CancerForward will present The New Summer Standard 2012 on Wednesday, May 23 at 7:00 pm at Houston Country Club. The black tie dinner dance will celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day 2012 and honor three-time cancer survivor Nancy Moncrief of Houston, who was first diagnosed with cancer at age 12. Four years ago, this mother of four young adult sons lost her husband, oilman Lee P. Moncrief, at age 57 to esophageal cancer. Extending the elegance of CancerForward’s highly successful 2011 celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day, 2012 gala chairs Lisa and Mike O’Leary and Liz and Robert Rigney promise a chic, early-summer party inspired by Dorothy Draper’s colorful and iconic East Hamptons interiors, replete with dinner and dancing to the Richard Brown Orchestra. The inaugural chairs of The New Summer Standard – Betty and Stephen Newton, Cabrina and Steven Owsley and Phoebe and Bobby Tudor – serve as Honorary Chairs of the 2012 event.

The 2012 conference marks the 15th year this national event has been held—and the 15th anniversary of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. Over those 15 years, new treatments have been approved, symptoms of the disease were identified, and survivors won a seat the table when research funding decisions are made. This conference will celebrate these advances and look ahead to the next wave of progress. At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from leading experts about cutting edge research on personalized medicine, molecular profiling and cancer vaccines, learn about clinical trials for ovarian cancer that are currently enrolling, and meet fellow survivors and caregivers from across the country.
