Two young women, both popular television personalities who have battled cancer, stand as American’s next generation leaders in extending survivorship strategies to reduce mortality in cancer. They will join one another in Houston for an on-stage conversation about their personal journeys of survivorship and will discuss patient navigation and the roles of diet and fitness in cancer rehab, topics now trending in global healthcare. Join CancerForward for #ICanGoForward: The Spirit That Inspires presenting the most decorated American gymnast in history, Shannon Miller together with Dee Dee Ricks, whose activism for healthcare provisioning for the poor is at the center of the new HBO documentary, “The Education of Dee Dee Ricks.” Cancer survivor Shara Fryer serves as honorary chair of the luncheon which is chaired by Arvia and Jason Few, Brenda Love and Ed Jones and Jane and Ed Parker, all survivors and co-survivors of cancer.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a community event whose main purpose is to raise cancer awareness and funds. At the event, participants will celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and fight back against cancer. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life is an overnight event and at least one member from each team should be on the track at all times.
