CancerForward To Receive Torch of Champions Award From Texas Children’s Cancer Center

Award to be given at Celebration of Champions Luncheon honoring those battling pediatric cancer

HOUSTON, July 8, 2011 – The 4th annual Texas Children’s Cancer Center’s Celebration of Champions luncheon will honor CancerForward: The Foundation For Cancer Survivors with its Torch of Champions Award September 28, 2011 at the Hilton Americas-Houston. The event will also honor all of the champions who have, or are, battling pediatric cancer.

The reception will begin at 11:15 a.m. and will be followed by a luncheon and fashion show at noon. For more information, visit www.champions.texaschildrens.org.

The luncheon benefits Texas Children’s Cancer Center’s Long Term Survivor Program and will help raise critical research dollars to help speed finding cures for childhood cancers. The funds raised will also provide support to the families and patients being treated at the Cancer Center.

Chaired by Sidney Faust, Judi McGee and Scott Basinger, this year’s event will be emceed by Kevin Kline, the co-host of 93 Q-Country’s Q Morning Zoo. During this year’s luncheon fashion show pediatric cancer patients and survivors will be escorted down the runway by key community champions who are being recognized for all they do to help make the Houston community a better place.

This year’s community champions are Bob and Janice McNair, Rudy Avelar, Yvonne C. Cormier, Claire Cormier Thielke, Rose Cullen, Kathy Cullen McCord, Jennifer McCord, Dr. ZoAnn Dreyer, Jan Duncan, Nidhika Mehta, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Alice Mosing and Judy and Glenn Smith.

Tables and individual tickets for the luncheon are available for purchase now. Individual tickets range in price from $150 to $300, and tables are available for $3,000 to $50,000. Complimentary valet and self parking will be provided.
